Maya teaches Gentle Yoga at Natural Living.
I started practicing yoga in my 20s, started teaching in my 30s and now in my 40s still uncovering the potency of yoga teachings into all areas of life.
I had the privilege to study closely with John Ogilvie as well as Sarah Powers as my root teachers and further learnt from Leslie Kaminoff, Simon Borg-Olivier, Shiva Rea, Jo Phee, Carlos Pomeda and I keep on inquiring!
Lisa Allan (BA, BSc, GradDipArts- Human Services) has been teaching yoga since 2004. She began teaching at the University of Canterbury to classes of up to 80 people- quite a way to start! There weren't many yoga teachers in Christchurch at that time and Lisa found herself cycling, yoga mat on her back, all over the city to cover classes and teach her own. Her pathway to teaching was through a lot of practice and an immediate affinity with yoga philosophy.
Lisa's first yoga teacher was Richard Tweedie (Christchurch), who she practiced under while training in the performing arts at Hagley Theatre Company. She then ventured forth to India where she discovered the beautiful teachers Pankaj Sharma (now based in Germany) and Surrinder Singh (Rishikesh). She qualified as RYT200 through Samma Karuna (Thailand). Lisa has taught many styles over the years from Iyengar and Ashtanga inspired classes to gentler yin and restorative ones. She loves to weave waiata into her classes and, more than anything, to hold space for people to connect more and more deeply to all that they are.
Emily is an Holistic Health Practitioner with over 20 years experience, specialising in Massage, Reiki & Healing.
Yoga has been part of her life throughout this time. Early last year Emily undertook the Yoga Alliance approved Hatha based Yoga Teacher Training and has been teaching ever since.
In her yoga class Emily brings her love of health, the body and yoga together in a relaxed but empowering way.
